Chapter 7 – Identity of Righteousness
The Good News is not that Jesus died for you. The Good News is that He died and was resurrected for you to also die to sin and be resurrected to the right way of being.
Romans 3:21-25 ESV “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.”
2 Corinthians 5:17, 21 ESV “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
I had to stop myself from printing half the New Testament here because the gospel is the fact of God’s gift of righteousness to humanity through Jesus, and I am passionate about it! To focus on the identity of righteousness that God gifted to be received through Jesus by faith gives God glory, honor, and praise! To continue in the identity of sin after being born again rips at our True identity which allows evil to access to our lives and bodies.
