Chapter 20 - Letting God Flow through Self into Others
I wrote all these chapters to get to this chapter: let’s take our believing selves and put them to use in other’s lives! Let’s bring the love and power and wholeness of God through us to the unbelieving world!
John 17:20-21 ESV “I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
Through our unity with God the world will believe that Jesus came for them, too. We must utilize our unity to be part of this equation.
Matthew 28:19-20 ESV “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Go and make disciples. Not just converts. Create relationships that bring people into the fullness of salvation. Teach through example how to live in their Unity with God and His love. Always know that Jesus is with you and then live like you mean it.
Mark 16:15-18 ESV “And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Jesus says that believers will be known by these supernatural signs. He does not say, “You show them the true God with your huge bible and holier-than-thou attitude.” Jesus also says that if believers love each other the way he loves us that the world will know that we’re His disciples. (John 13:34-35)
What’s holding us back from doing these signs? Not believing who we are in Jesus Christ.
